The Aphrodite Crest
Stories of Passion
For stories that dare to feel deeply.
The Aphrodite Crest celebrates the many expressions of love, desire, intimacy and human connection. We welcome romance in all its forms, from tender contemporary love stories and passionate sapphic romances to historical romance, romantic fantasy and erotic fiction.
We seek stories that explore the complexities of the heart, the courage to be vulnerable, the freedom to desire and the transformative power of human connection. Whether subtle or unapologetically sensual, we value writing that evokes emotion, creates meaningful connections and leaves a lasting impression.
We believe that love is not limited by convention, that intimacy takes many forms, and that every meaningful connection deserves to be told with authenticity, imagination and care.
What We Publish
The Aphrodite Crest welcomes:
Contemporary and historical romance
Sapphic romance and LGBTQ+ love stories
General romance and relationship-centred fiction
Romantic fantasy and fantasy with strong romantic elements
Erotic romance and adult fiction
Dark romance and stories exploring complex relationships, desire and power dynamics
We are interested in stories with compelling characters, meaningful relationships, emotional depth and an engaging narrative. We welcome both conventional and unconventional love stories, from gentle explorations of connection to bold, sensual and challenging works.
Our interest is not limited to a particular relationship structure, identity or expression of love. What matters is the strength of the storytelling and the care with which the subject is approached.
Our Editorial Philosophy
Challenge minds. Respect humanity. Tell stories responsibly.
Athenaion Publishing believes that literature should have the freedom to challenge, question, provoke and explore the full complexity of human experience.
We welcome stories that confront difficult subjects, expose uncomfortable truths, question established beliefs and give voice to perspectives that deserve to be heard.
However, creative freedom carries responsibility. We do not seek to publish works that promote hatred, glorify abuse, encourage exploitation or dehumanise others.
We believe difficult stories can be told without celebrating the harm they portray. Our commitment is to meaningful storytelling, responsible authorship and respect for human dignity.
Editorial Integrity & Author Responsibility
Athenaion Publishing values creative freedom, intellectual curiosity and responsible authorship. We expect authors to approach their subjects with care, exercise sound judgement and take responsibility for the accuracy and integrity of their work.
Authors are responsible for researching and verifying factual claims within their manuscripts. This is particularly important when writing about medical, psychological, clinical, legal, scientific, historical or other specialist subjects.
Information presented as fact must be supported by credible research and appropriate sources. Authors should not rely on assumptions, speculation or fabricated information presented as established fact. Where creative liberties are taken, these should be distinguishable from factual claims.
During our review and editorial processes, Athenaion Publishing may question statements, request clarification, identify apparent inconsistencies or ask authors to reconsider material that raises concerns. However, we do not undertake independent fact-checking or specialist research on behalf of authors. The responsibility for verifying the content remains with the author.
Our editorial input is intended to support the integrity and quality of a manuscript, not replace the author's responsibility for the work they submit.
Ultimately, the author's name appears on the book. We expect that authors to stand behind their research, their words and the work they choose to publish.
Content Boundaries
Athenaion Publishing welcomes stories featuring diverse identities, relationships, cultures and experiences across all three literary Crests.
A character's gender, sexual orientation or identity does not determine where a story belongs. Our Crests are defined by the central focus, themes and literary purpose of a work, rather than the identities of the people within it.
A sapphic romance may find its home beneath Aphrodite, a sapphic fantasy adventure beneath Artemis, and a memoir exploring LGBTQ+ lived experience beneath Athena.
We believe stories should find their literary home according to what they seek to express, not be confined by who they represent.
