Our Submissions
Every story deserves the right home.
Athenaion Publishing welcomes authors whose work reflects emotional truth, creative courage, imaginative depth, and a desire to leave something meaningful behind.
Our publishing philosophy is rooted in the belief that stories deserve thoughtful consideration, that authors deserve respect for their creative vision, and that every work should find a publishing home suited to its character and purpose.
Through our three literary Crests, we bring together distinct voices, genres and expressions of storytelling. Each Crest represents a different literary path, united by our commitment to meaningful stories and the people who bring them to life.
Three Crests. Three literary paths. One publishing sanctuary.
Our Commitment to Authors & Their Work
Human Authorship
Athenaion Publishing values human creativity and original authorship. We welcome responsibly AI-assisted work where the author remains the creative source and retains responsibility for the work. We do not accept manuscripts generated by AI and presented as human-authored work. Where AI tools have contributed to the creative process, their use must be disclosed.
Language
We accept English-language submissions. Authors must indicate their preferred spelling convention, whether British or American English.
Human Review & Confidentiality
Every initial submission is reviewed by our human team. We do not submit unpublished manuscripts or confidential submission materials to generative AI systems for assessment, screening, analysis or training. Your work deserves consideration by people, not automated systems.
Submission Preparation
Please ensure that your story has been carefully revised and spell-checked before submitting. We value work that reflects the author's commitment to its development and presentation.
A Note on Expectations
Submitting your work does not guarantee an invitation to full manuscript review or an offer of publication. While we cannot promise commercial success, we are committed to treating every submission with care, professionalism and respect.
Our Submission Process
Every publishing journey begins with a conversation.
Step 1: Choose Your Crest
Explore our three literary Crests and select the one that best represents your work.
Each Crest has its own literary identity, genres and submission requirements.
Step 2: Tell Us About Your Story
Complete the online submission form on your chosen Crest page and introduce us to your work.
We ask for your author details, book information, a blurb and a synopsis so that we can understand the story, its themes and its place within our publishing catalogue.
No manuscript is required at this initial stage.
Please do not upload or send your full manuscript unless we specifically invite you to do so.
Step 3: Initial Consideration
Your submission will be personally reviewed by Athenaion Publishing to assess its suitability for our publishing philosophy
and the relevant Crest.
Please allow several weeks for this initial review. We will contact you by email once a decision has been made.
Step 4: Full Manuscript Review
If your initial submission shows promise, we may invite you to submit a PDF copy of your complete manuscript for further consideration.
An invitation to submit your manuscript does not constitute an offer of publication or guarantee acceptance.
Step 5: Publishing Agreement
If we decide that your work is suitable for publication, we will present a written publishing agreement outlining the proposed terms, responsibilities and expectations of both parties.
No publishing commitment is made until the agreement has been reviewed and signed by both parties.
Step 6: Editorial & Production
Once the agreement is in place, we will request the editable manuscript and begin the agreed editorial and production process.
We work alongside our authors to prepare their manuscripts for publication, with care given to the integrity of the work and the author's creative vision.
